“Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my website, my name is Ashley DuChene (pronounced like Du-Shane) and I’m based in San Diego, CA. I’m a second generation photographer who feels very lucky to have been able to turn my childhood passion into a fulfilling career for the past decade. It was a natural fit to choose photography and child psychology for my college education.
Soon after college I started my professional photography career working as a photographer at a boutique studio. The studio kept me very busy with hundreds of weddings and portrait sessions but once I had my baby, Juliette, it was clear that freelance work was so much easier for my own family and so I began Ashley DuChene Photography. I typically do three photo shoots a week and I love it. I’ll do anything to make a child laugh!
When I’m not photographing children I’m happily immersed in commercial projects for various businesses revolving around health & fitness, animals, and children. I’m the head photographer for Sunset Cliffs Magazine. I also co-host a popular iTunes podcast about portrait photography business topics. The past couple of years have been exciting for me, from my work with Kashi Foods to speaking at the Wedding & Portrait Photography Conference (WPPI) in Las Vegas, as well as presenting at Yelp’s San Francisco Headquarters about the importance of excellent customer service. Now in 2018, I’m curating a gallery show in downtown San Diego called Visual Voice, featuring 50 female photographers, it’s proving to be a big success, I’m hoping to make this a yearly event.
And while I truly enjoy photography, by far my biggest joy and achievement to date is my seven year old daughter. Again, I thank you for visiting the site and taking the time to get to know me a bit better. I hope to meet and photograph you soon!”
